Independent of the conglomerates
No private-equity owners pushing quarterly upsells, no parent company with conflicting taxi-app interests. Owned and operated by the founding team since day one.
Think Smart International is an independent, Dublin-headquartered platform building dispatch and operations software for taxi and private hire operators.
Think Smart International began with a straightforward observation made across a dozen depot visits in 2018: private hire operators were running serious businesses on software that had never been designed for them. Spreadsheets served as rotas. Half a dozen unrelated tools were stitched together with manual habits and weary patience.
We set out to build something different — a considered platform that sat quietly alongside the operator, answered the right questions at the right moments, and never asked for more attention than it was earning. Fewer modules, deeper work. Each release is road-tested with real fleets before it is rolled out to anyone else.
Today the platform underpins daily operations for private hire businesses across Ireland and the United Kingdom. We remain a Dublin-headquartered practice, independent of the dispatch conglomerates, accountable to operators alone.
Less a wall poster, more a checklist we run through in product reviews, support calls, and the daily standup. The closer a decision sits to all four, the easier it is to ship.
Every feature on the roadmap traces back to a request from a real fleet. Nothing ships because a competitor shipped it. Operators see their own words come back as release notes.
Software should disappear into the background of a working dispatch desk, not demand attention with notifications, badges, and dashboards that nobody asked for. We measure success in seconds saved per shift.
Phone calls reach the person who can help, not a routing menu. Every operator knows their account manager by first name, and the engineering team is two doors away from the support desk.
NTA filings, working-time directives, audit-ready booking records, and EU data residency are not bolt-ons. They sit at the centre of how the platform is built, because Irish private hire lives or dies by its paperwork.
Three former dispatch controllers and a back-end engineer started Think Smart in a converted office above a Swords pharmacy, on a brief written by the operators they had spent twelve weeks shadowing.
The first version of the dispatch desk went live across three sister fleets covering Swords, Malahide, and Howth. The first paid booking was a 5:42am airport run.
Selected as one of three platforms in an NTA pilot for digital SPSV record-keeping. The exports we built for that pilot remain the standard format for audit submissions across the platform today.
Two operators in Greater Manchester moved across, prompting a regional support function and the first set of TfL-aligned templates for English council audits.
Cumulative hours tracking with hard-stop alerts shipped after a long collaboration with a Galway operator who lost a contract over a single missed audit threshold.
Think Smart supports just over three hundred fleets across IE and the UK from the same building it started in. The team is twenty-two people, deliberately small, deliberately focused.

A short account of what keeps private hire operators on the platform beyond their first contract renewal.
No private-equity owners pushing quarterly upsells, no parent company with conflicting taxi-app interests. Owned and operated by the founding team since day one.
Our engineers spent six weeks shadowing controllers in three Irish depots before writing a line of code. The interface is what those controllers said they wanted, not what made the demo look slickest.
Every byte of operational data lives on Irish or German cloud infrastructure. Bookings never cross the Atlantic, audit logs never sit on US-controlled servers. GDPR alignment is the floor, not the ceiling.
A typical 50-vehicle fleet runs its first job on the platform inside fourteen days, parallel to existing operations. We migrate the booking history, train the controllers, and stand alongside on launch night.
One number per vehicle per month. No booking-volume tiers, no usage cliffs, no setup fees buried in the contract. Add a car mid-month and the next invoice prorates automatically.
Each quarter’s features are decided by a private board where every paying operator has a vote. The feature with the most operator weight ships first, regardless of internal preferences.
